There are 48 hangers in my wardrobe
When I tell people that I graduated from a diploma centering around hotel management, many will start talking about the integrated resort, and how 吃香 it would be for us when it does open.
If I love to cook and create messes and the occassional pleaser in the kitchen, does that mean I should aspire to be a chef? A job never revolves around only its main function. Being a chef means the hustling high-stress environment in the kitchen. If you make it to be somebody, it will mean mixing with the right people, entertaining the right people.
We all seem to be pretty clear about what we want to have in life. But when it comes to actually taking the steps to get it, we do our little dance, and are unsure of the steps. One of the reasons why I don’t like to set solid goals until I have already embarked on a journey, where I know the chances are I’ll end up where my solid ‘gold’ is.
They say shoot for the moon and you’ll land in the stars. But no, if you miss the bloody moon, you’re left to float in space. Anyone saw the Jackie Chan movie with the Korean actress? How they float around unable to control their direction, once they lose inertia? Like that, la. The stars just look like they’re next to the moon from where we are.
In fact, in Singapore, you can hardly see any stars to begin with.
At this stage in life, I can only consider and reconsider my options, lead a honest decent life, watch out hard for opportunities, and when I do make the choice, be contented with it. You can NEVER make the best choice, because you’ll never know what the other choices you missed out on will turn out, because you will never walk down those paths.
Eventually, there is no point in regret..
