Bothersome thoughts for a young child
I remember spending alot of time trying to figure out why balloons did not burst when pricked on the spot where a scotch tape was pasted over. I had to give up.
Today, I gave it a thought again and figured it out immediately.
I discover that I am actually quite some smarter than when I was in pre-primary.
Edit: Following up on Jane’s comment, how I figure balloons don’t burst is because of their low-elasticity. If you pricked a balloon, the reason it blows is because the pressure from the air filling the ballon pushes against the hole pricked, and the balloon starts to tear and break apart. Very fast. Pop! If you put a non-stretchy scotch tape on the balloon, and prick where the scotch tape is, the side of the tape holds the rest of the balloon together, preventing it from tearing. Therefore no pop.
Savvy?
